Highly skilled database administrator responsible for the planning, design implementation, operational support, and maintenance of Progress databases in Linux operating system. The Enterprise also consists of Microsoft SQL Server, Postgress, MySQL, Progress & Oracle, RDS, Redshift & Azure databases in a 24x7 high-availability production environment in Windows and Linux Operating systems. Responsible for developing, migrating to aws/azure, tuning, monitoring & deploying the database environment(s) and ensuring their performance, availability, scalability and security to support business requirements.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for designing & architecting the progress databases and the servers.
• Responsible for maintaining high-availability and performance of multiple databases that support a variety of business-critical systems throughout the enterprise in the cloud and on premise.
• Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure services are available with minimum downtime.
• Responsible for troubleshooting and problem resolution of Progress, SQL, Oracle, Postgress, Redshift, Mariadb and other database systems, including the engagement of appropriate vendors and/or internal staff to rapidly resolve and restore services to the enterprise.
• Responsible for patching, upgrades and maintenance of database environments leveraging strict Change Control mechanisms to ensure minimal disruption to the end-users.
• Responsible for providing frequent metrics/statistics on the database environments to executive leadership.
• Create and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for database administration and appropriate use that aligns with the overall Corporate Security posture.
• Work with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to evaluate database products and services that may enhance the current production environment(s), or provide clarity on a future roadmap for the platform(s).
• Collaborate with the business users to establish Service Level Agreements for all database services across multiple environments (e.g. DEV/QA/UAT/PROD).
• Provide guidance and direction to junior members of the DBA team.
• Rotational On-Call availability for scheduled/unscheduled after-hours support.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge in AWS & Azure platforms, databases, data migration tools, GLUE, RedShift, EC2, S3 components.
• Excellent knowledge of current database products and architectures from multiple vendors.
• Experience in managing multiple instances of MS SQL databases, Oracle on large enterprise-class systems.
• Experience in SSIS, SSRS & SSAS development and its management.
• Experience in database partitioning, compression, online performance monitoring/tuning.
• Experience in database release management process and script review.
• Experience in Database mirroring, AAG and Disaster Recovery procedures.
• Experience in Database monitoring and different monitoring tools.
• Experience in data modeling, database optimization and relational database schemas
• Experience in writing write complex SQL queries and debugging through someone else’s code.
• Experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL database security.
• Experience in Database Policies, Certificates, Database Mail, Resource Management
• Experience in SQL Server internals (Memory usage, DMVs, Threads, wait stats, Query Store, SQL Profiler)
• Experience in Cluster Server management and failovers.
• Deep understanding of data modeling (SSARS), Reporting Services (SSRS, Tableau, PowerBI, Athena).
• Proficient with XML, JSON, PowerShell, AWS Cli.
• Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and network communications principles.
• Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Ability to create and/or analyze budgetary requirements for new environment build-outs or sustaining existing environments with incremental hardware/software.
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure 24x7 production environment and make sound decisions/recommendations in crisis situations.

Education/Experience

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Must have a minimum of 10 years in-depth SQL Server Database Administration experience including creating MS SQL stored procedures & queries, designing, and developing database.
• with an emphasis on PowerShell scripting.
