POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for determining and executing strategies for the areas of development, marketing and communications, public and professional education and research that support the mission, vision, and strategy of the organization. Oversees marketing, public relations, promotional and advertising mediums, and ensures Envision’s message is distributed across channels and to targeted audiences. Directs development activity and donor development. Acts as a working leader with a hands-on approach to identifying, promoting, and generating educational and research forums that ensure low vision and vision rehabilitation opportunities and best practices are advanced internationally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE

  • Participate in the development of Envision’s plans and programs as a strategic partner, focusing on corporate positioning, market and competitive analysis, customer segment selection and penetration plans, and implementation and alignment for the enterprise.
  • Establish and implement short and long-range department goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures that support the mission, vision, and strategy of the organization.
  • Oversee marketing communication including branding, public and media relations, advertising, white papers, trade shows, seminars and event materials, market research management, and website design and content.
  • Oversee the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of public relations activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning or the organization and its leadership.
  • Oversee and direct development activities to include donor development, planned giving campaigns and grant writing, fund raising direct mailings and special events.
  • Oversee direct marketing programs for demand creation and lead generation, and lead tracking and management.
  • Develop and report on metrics and success criteria for all marketing programs and activities.
  • Provides oversight and leadership to the Workforce Innovation Center (WIC) in ways that position the organization to continuously demonstrate strategic ability and capitalize on innovation; provides overarching vision for generating competitive / breakthrough strategies throughout the organization and plans for increased revenue and new market penetration; responsible for strategic planning and strategy execution.
  • Oversee the Envision Research Institute (ERI) program to ensure penetration of patient referrals, dissemination of public information and targeted marketing presentations, promotion of patient services and other special projects, outcome measures of vision rehabilitation clinical practices and efficacy of low vision clinical practice model.
  • Oversee Envision professional education efforts and multidisciplinary continuing education programs that promote professional, individual and community support for Envision Vision Rehabilitation Center (EVRC) and Envision Child Development Center (ECDC) programs and services.
  • Provide guidance for development and growth of Envision University that will allow for continuing education and a forum for networking for low vision professionals and ensure best practices in vision rehabilitation are advanced internationally.
  • Continually assess the relevance of all Foundation programs and practices against comparable organizations, industries, and markets.
  • Working in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), manage the budget and other financial measures of the Foundation department.
  • Direct and manage a high performing corporate development and strategy team; oversee performance and provide direction, technical advice, and knowledge.
  • Evaluate performance management in responsible areas; provide regular feedback and coaching on performance successes and improvements needed.
  • Continually update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintain compliance with established safety policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant marketing and/or development experience required, including a minimum of 2 years in a senior management role; not-for-profit experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products required knowledge of account management systems helpful.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution; requires a broad conceptual judgment and ability to deal with complex factors not easily evaluated.
  • Knowledge of structuring marketing goals and revenue expectations.
  • Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to influence and persuade.
  • High energy and passion for the mission is essential.
  • Ability to establish, implement, and achieve performance goals.
  • A decisive individual who possesses a strategic focus along with an operational, implementation and detail-oriented perspective.
  • Proven ability to lead cross functional and matrixed teams, committees, and decision-making bodies.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, including a collaborative approach and ability to manage through influence.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
