Summary: The Irrigation Design Lead supports the sales and project development process by conducting field surveys and systems reviews prior to developing savings projections and pricing models for projects, completes technical reviews of bidding documents as a part of developing pricing models for projects, and reviews new technologies in irrigation and sub-metering to evaluate feasibility for future project scopes of work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Field work
  1. Conduct and oversee the field surveys and audits of existing irrigation systems. Surveys and audits will include, but not limited to documenting existing controller type, make, and model, water source type, size and pressure, control valve count and location, sprinkler head type, make, model, and quantities, and other relevant points of interest which will potentially impact project scope of work and implementation approach.
  2. Document the square footage of each of the zones on a mapping program.
  3. Deploy different technologies to measure water flow, and pressure of an existing water service. 
  4. Support other water efficiency and survey needs during off-season periods
• Office work
  1. Technical review of RFPs and bidding documents with the end goal to create pricing templates from specifications defined within bidding documents.
  2. Apply project parameters, as defined in bidding related documents, to pricing template to project out costs and sell prices for project proposals.
  3. Using established tools and processes, draft pricing proposals in response to bidding documents
  4. Analyze field gathered audit data (flow and pressure testing results, etc..) whether such data was collected by the PDE or by others and apply to various established business modeling tools.
  5. Review new technologies in irrigation for use feasibility and constructability in future projects.
  6. Construct parts lists for turn-key projects based on scope of work defined in bidding documents or in pricing template.
  7. Contact material suppliers to obtain project specific part numbers and pricing.
  8. Prepares material submittal documents to be submitted to customers for approval.
  9. Prepares material purchase requests.
  10. Prepares preliminary change order request supporting documentation.
  11. Coordinates and facilitates internal pricing review with management and operations.
  12. Conducts project hand-off with operations to review scope or work and specific bidding requirements.

Education/Experience:

• Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or 4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite; Development Software; Inventory Software; Project Management Software
