Purpose of the Position

The Program Coordinator, Family Engagement ensures that family choice and family voice are imbedded throughout Ready Region Southwest and EO initiatives. As the facilitator for the Ready Region Southwest Family Council, the Coordinator leads the effort to identify families across the entire service area and engage those families in creative problem solving related to early childhood systems building. The coordinator also serves as the liaison between EO and other regional and statewide partners who work with and for families. 

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Serve as the primary contact representing EO’s work with families of children aged Birth to 5 in partnerships with funders, community organizations, committees, coalitions, and family service teams both internally and externally 
  • Plan and lead (or co-lead with families) strategies that build and expand relationships with the goal to recruit and retain family council members who are representative of the region
  • Collaboratively plan and implement orientation and ongoing training for Family Council members in protocols, advocacy, and roles and expectations that clearly outline the family council's role. 
  • Work closely with family council leaders to design, plan, and implement consistent meeting schedules and communications processes that engage and inform families about the Family Council and other relevant Early Childhood Systems activities. 
  • Facilitate dialogue with families and other stakeholders that is informed by regional and state data, trends, needs, and issues.
  • Communicate and collaborate in multiple ways with internal and external partners to advance the work of Ready Region Southwest, the Family Council, and/or other EO priorities as needed.

Requirements of the Position:

Education and Experience:

  • Experience working directly with families in diverse Early Childhood service settings, could include home visitor, preschool teacher, family services coordinator, etc. Three (3) or more years preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Proven ability to follow directions, solve problems, and work independently.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university (preferred)
  • Experience in an educational, nonprofit, or social service organization is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Successful applicants have

  • connections to other family serving agencies (or the interpersonal skills to build them)
  • the ability to communicate in written and verbal formats with various stakeholders, including families, child care providers, non-profit partners, and business leaders in both small and large group settings

  • flexibility of thought and action to quickly respond to the changing needs of the region

Residency and TravelIt is preferred that applicants reside in the service area and are available to attend early morning, evening, and/or weekend meetings on a periodic basis. They should also be able to travel independently.

Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write briefs and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make compelling and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Valid driver's license and automobile insurance. Access to reliable, high-speed home internet required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Job Relationship - The Program Coordinator, Family Engagement reports to the Program Manager, Coordinated Enrollment. The Program Coordinator must maintain an ongoing working relationship with other Coordinators, as well as Managers, Directors, and Vice Presidents leveled positions at EO
