We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic School Social Worker to join our school community. The ideal candidate possess a Master's Degree in Social Work, hold a Type 731 PEL, Spanish speaking and have prior experience working with urban teens and within educational settings. This role is crucial for supporting our students' emotional and social development, ensuring they have the resilience and resources necessary to succeed both academically and personally.Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Social Work (required).
Valid Type 731 PEL (required).
Spanish speaking (preferred).
Experience working with urban teenagers (preferred).
Previous experience in a school environment (preferred).
Personal Characteristics:
Highly organized with excellent multitasking and prioritization skills.
Strong facilitation skills with experience in mentoring and counseling.
Ability to develop personalized support and intervention strategies for individual students.
Skilled at collaborating with teachers, students, parents, and community members.
School Year Responsibilities:
Respond promptly to referrals from teachers to counsel students with social and emotional issues.
Maintain open communication with all staff to identify and support students in need.
Coordinate and facilitate student support groups on various topics including anger management, anxiety/depression, teen parenthood, substance abuse, and self-esteem.
Monitor and update emotional and social data of students, ensuring accurate tracking within the school's RTI and MTSS frameworks.
Assist in providing services for students experiencing homelessness.
Uphold professionalism, serving as a role model and guardian of the school's mission, core values, and culture.
Provide detailed and timely reports to the administration to aid in tracking student progress and ensuring school compliance.
Summer Responsibilities:
Analyze intake forms for incoming freshmen to gather comprehensive background information.
Engage with high-need students during the summer to prepare for the upcoming school year.
Liaise with counselors from feeder elementary schools to prepare a 'watch list' of incoming freshmen and to recruit students for summer programs.
Develop resources and tools for support groups catering to diverse student needs.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with community and city-wide partners to enhance Tier 3 interventions.
