Psychiatric Assistant / CNA

A community-based mental health agency is seeking a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) who can coordinate services in our psychiatry department with physicians, individuals, and employees.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Administer screenings (to include drug tests), calculate results, and send results to doctor when requested
• Collect and record vital signs
• Problem-solve for psychiatry department
• Maintain spreadsheets and reports
• Ensure individuals are aware of policies, procedures, and any changes
• Maintain inventory of medical supplies and create purchase orders when needed
• Scan and upload documentation received for psychiatry into chart
• Conduct care coordination weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly
• Correspond with all psychiatrists/nurse practitioners regarding their needs, concerns, etc.
• Coordinate with pharmacies and physicians in response to medication concerns daily and weekly (during office hours)
• Correspond with individuals, psychiatrists, and stakeholders
• Manage schedules for psychiatrists/nurse practitioners
• Triage patients
• Complete other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• At least one year experience working in a medical/behavioral health facility
• Active Certified Nursing Assistant license in Virginia
• Current CPR/First Aid certification
• Ability to utilize effective communication
• Ability to work well individually and with a team
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Skills necessary to function well in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change
• Strong problem solving and conflict resolutions skills
• Strong organization and time management skills
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations

Training:

• Must have verification of Tuberculosis screening

Background Investigation:

• Staff must successfully complete a criminal background records check conducted by the DBHDS criminal background investigation unit.
• Staff must also have a central registry check completed and must not have any history of positive findings.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Experience:

• Behavioral health or doctors office: 3 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:
