Minimum Qualifications:
  • Has aptitude for and some training in arts and crafts.
  • Prior experience in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
  • Is able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language; possesses sight/hearing senses, or the use of prosthetics that will enable this sense to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
  • Has the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Has a passion for working with older adults and has some understanding of the social, psychological, and recreational needs of older adults.
  • Is patient, organized, and flexible.
  • Able and willing to work independently with flexibility and integrity, as well as effectively and harmoniously with team members, residents, family members, volunteers, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Is able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the Community.
  • May be required to lift equipment, supplies, and occasionally move furniture weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be fully up-to-date with required vaccinations.
As the Director of Life Enrichment you can expect to:
  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs the life enrichment programs of the Community. Provides opportunities for residents to maintain community relations through both in house programs and outings. Actively seeks out new and pertinent ideas and programs and incorporates them into existing programming. Involves residents and families in planning programs and ensures that information is distributed to residents/families about available opportunities.
  • Responsible for the administrative functions of the department including, but not limited to screening and scheduling performers both in person and via virtual platforms, creating the monthly calendar, developing and monitoring sign-up sheets, sending reminders, creating and posting posters for advertisement, securing transportation, paying performers, and completing room set-up requests.
  • Works cooperatively with resident programming committee to solicit ideas and suggestions.
  • Attends programming and helps facilitate engagement among residents.
  • Conducts one-on-one outreach to residents as directed.
  • Leads Deupree’s dementia inclusive efforts. Hosts programs and outings each month that are geared toward individuals with dementia.
  • Develops, implements, and reviews the policies and procedures for the department at least annually and revises as necessary Reviews and updates departmental SDS binder.
  • Assists in the development and monitoring of the department’s budget, including but not limited to credit card, petty cash, and departmental expenditures.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains an ongoing PIP program for the Life Enrichment Department.
  • Keeps current of federal, state, and local regulations, as well as professional standards, pertaining to life enrichment programs and makes recommendations to the Executive Director on changes in procedures as determined necessary/desired.
