The Opportunity

The Senior Director will lead the DMPK function and contribute significantly to the discovery and progression of our small molecule therapeutic portfolio. This role will head the DMPK efforts, leveraging expertise in absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME), pharmacokinetics (PK), and pharmacodynamics to guide the strategy and execution of our pre-clinical programs. The candidate will work collaboratively across functions to design and implement critical studies, addressing key DMPK issues and advancing pre-clinical compounds into development.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior discovery and development leadership to establish DMPK strategies and plans for our small molecule R&D portfolio.
• Manage activities at contract research organizations (CROs), including in vitro ADME, PK, bioanalysis, and PK/PD modeling.
• Develop DMPK capabilities both externally and internally.
• Represent the DMPK functional area on project teams, working closely with medicinal chemistry and biology/pharmacology.
• Design, analyze, and interpret preclinical DMPK studies to support program goals and objectives.
• Integrate a wide range of DMPK data for comprehensive analyses of biopharmaceutics, drug metabolism, PK/PD, human PK/dose projections, and drug-drug interaction risks.
• Author and review study reports and relevant sections of regulatory documents.

About You

• Advanced degree (MS with 15 years or PhD with 10 years of experience) in pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, or related discipline.
• Proactive problem solver within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
• Extensive knowledge of small molecule DMPK, with experience spanning from early discovery to IND.
• Proven track record in optimizing and characterizing ADME properties of small molecule drug candidates, supported by a strong publication record in DMPK sciences.
• Skilled in managing activities at CROs and adept at working within a virtual outsourced model.
• Expertise in PK/PD modeling from discovery through early development
• Experience leading DMPK projects, particularly in discovery and early development.
• Operational experience and familiarity with the drug discovery and development process, including external regulatory requirements.
