Description

Position Summary

The CAD Drafter works under general supervision to support the Engineering department and company leadership with drafting 2D manufacturing floor layouts to maintain company productivity and efficiency to ensure continuous improvement and customer satisfaction while adhering to company policy. Using their technical drawing skills, the CAD Drafter uses software to create digital drawings and draft designs based on the work of engineers and facilities as it relates to these goals.

1. Utilize CAD software to prepare technical drawings, working with Engineering and other professionals to meet their unique specifications
2. Ensure that all drawings are accurate and meet industry standards and regulations
3. Maintain a library of standard drawing templates, updating existing drawings as new information becomes available
4. Calculate dimensions, weight limitations, material requirements, etc. in order to make efficient use of the given project space, identifying potential operational issues and redesigning to improve functionality

3. Regular and reliable attendance is required to accomplish essential functions of the job

Qualifications

Education and Experience

1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent applicable education and work experience is required; Associate’s degree is preferred
2. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
3. Minimum 1 year of experience operating a 2D CAD workstation is required
4. Advanced PC skills are required, including experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks
5. Advanced math skills are required
6. Ability to use critical thinking to propose creative solutions to complex problems
7. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with all levels of personnel
8. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
9. Perform physical measurements with tools such as tape measure and electronic distance meter

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work in a traditional office environment, however, may work in a manufacturing and/or cleanroom environment that is subject to moderate to high levels of noise, specialized apparel, and safety equipment, and moving mechanical parts. This position will have exposure to and use of materials listed in the company’s Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

While performing the duties of this job, the employeeconducts primarily light work with constant periods of standing, walking, reaching, and occasional periods of squatting, crawling, climbing, stooping, talking, listening, pushing, and pulling. This position requires the ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 50 pounds on occasion. Repetitive motions (movements) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers are required.
