Description

Position Summary

The Technical Support Specialist works under general supervision providing leadership and coordination of project teams based on established business strategies to ensure continual improvement, customer satisfaction, and adherence to company policy. The Technical Support Specialistuses their technical knowledge to act as the primary contact for the IT department inquiries, maintenance and installation of new hardware and software, perform system analyst, and make recommendations in areas that require a high level of technical competency.

Essential Functions

  1. Analyze complex local and wide area network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, and the selecting operating systems, isolating problem trends, and ensuring that troubleshooting efforts are completed for recurring problems until permanent solutions are found
  2. Perform network administration duties to include creating, deleting, and maintaining user accounts and groups for Internet Firewall, Voice mail system, UNIX, and Microsoft systems, providing technical support to users with technology-related issues, acting as a liaison between customers and internal support staff to ensure accurate problem interpretation
  3. Create, review, and update documentation and recommend modifications to procedures that impact the use of application systems, develop training improvement programs for assigned departments and participate in the implementation process, and support ISO audits ensuring overall compliance with the standard
  4. Maintain professional and technical knowledge of industry best practices by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies

Other Responsibilities

  1. Follow company-wide safety programs, 5S initiatives, and ISO procedures
  2. Provide consistent, high-quality output to ensure customer satisfaction and create value to exceed customer expectations
  3. Regular and reliable attendance is required to accomplish essential functions of the job
  4. Domestic business travel may be required

Qualifications


Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent applicable education and work experience is required
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience in Information Technology is required
  3. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  4. Proficient in TCP/IP, LAN/WAN systems, WAN protocols, Symantec Netback up, VPN/SSL solutions, routers and switches, network monitoring tools and their usage and security devices including VPN, and anti-virus and firewalls
  5. Intermediate PC skills required, including Microsoft, VMware administration and support
  6. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with all levels of personnel
  7. Solve problems using critical thinking and sound judgment
  8. Manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently; prioritizing workload to consistently meet deadlines and production requirements

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in a warehouse, manufacturing, cleanroom, and/or office environment that is subject to moderate to high levels of noise, specialized apparel and safety equipment, and moving mechanical parts. This position will have exposure to and use of materials listed in the company’s Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

While performing the duties of this job, the employeeconducts primarily light work with frequent periods of standing, walking, talking, listening, climbing, squatting, visual inspection of documentation, pushing, and pulling. This position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds on occasion with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Repetitive motions (movements) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers are required.
