Equity Residential is Hiring a Human Resources Project Manager Near Chicago, IL

The Project Manager is a key member of the company’s HR Transformation team. This position will help identify improvement opportunities and plan, lead, and manage events and projects that significantly grow our capacity, efficiency, and effectiveness in HR. The ideal candidate is results-oriented, thorough, able to execute projects and events within agreed-upon deadlines, and can effectively communicate with all levels of management, monitoring and summarizing project progress, vendor management, and process enhancement. Ultimately, the Project Manager’s duties are to ensure all assigned projects and events are completed on time, within budget, and meet high-quality standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to leading and managing various project tasks, administrative duties like maintaining project documentation, handling financial queries, and monitoring and summarizing project progress. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, meticulous, able to assist with completing projects within agreed-upon deadlines and scope, and can effectively communicate with all levels of management to deliver results on time.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Project Management (70%)

  • Coordinate logistics for national and regional initiatives (such as Summits, Town Halls, and Sales meetings).
  • Leads project team to define, prioritize, and communicate project scope, schedules, budget, resources, implementation, and completion for selected projects and events.
  • Documents the steps of the project or event in an organized project plan and/or an appropriate collaboration site and updates it regularly to manage the process.
  • Develops and maintains business partner and vendor relationships to enhance and support the project or event.
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert on PMO processes and advocate for project best practices.
  • Assists on key national initiatives to ensure best business practices.

Support and Analysis (20%)

  • Participates in evaluating the project or event’s effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Develops and delivers project and event summary reports and schedules, assessment reports, and other written and verbal communications as appropriate.
  • Provides organization and oversight that enables HR programs to be planned, sustained, tracked, and improved over time.

Administration (10%)

  • Process expenses and invoices while monitoring adherence to the budget and seeking approval when needed

Additional Requirements

  • Represents the Company in a professional manner at all times. Consistently maintains a professional courteous attitude when dealing with residents, coworkers and the general public.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS & PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of (3) years of prior project management experience strongly preferred. PMP, PgMP, CAPM, and/or comparable project management certifications are highly desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, communicate effectively, draft written communication materials, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates curiosity in learning new skills and seeks to broaden one’s knowledge in Human Resources.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently, have excellent organizational skills, and be able to prioritize workload effectively. Maintaining a high level of confidentiality is also required for this role.
