Position SummaryWorking in a collaborative team environment with primary focus on creating new product offerings and updated products that will drive revenue and competitive position. Strong writing and proofing skills, strategic and analytical thinking along with research skills and organizational abilities are important skills for this role. Supports the daily operational functions of the Product Development team by facilitating the product development process all the way from product concept and final approval to implementation. Works closely with other functional groups --- Law, Underwriting, Claims, Compliance, IT, and Product Configuration in order to support, organize, create and maintain products and best practices among product group.
  • This is an in office position with hybrid flexibility
  • This position is located in our Millcreek/Westport location
  • The hiring manager will also consider candidates for Product Development Specialist II.Level of position offered will be based upon the depth and breadth of selected candidate's experience and qualifications.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesDrafts basic policy language for existing products as well as informational documents regarding language revisions to be reviewed by higher level specialist, supervisor, and/or business units.
Prepares state insurance filings and responds to any objections to gain state approval.
Researches, analyzes and interprets insurance laws, regulations and court decisions to determine effect on ERIE products and procedures. Works closely with required functional areas to determine the business impact of changes in these areas and to implement required changes by specified effective date.
Participates in and supports IT projects related to product changes.
Ensures policies/attachments are printed correctly and on-time per regulations; identifies process improvements.
Participates in state audits, claims inquiries and compliance issues.
Serves as consultant for marketing and educational materials.

QualificationsThe minimum education and experience requirements are as follows:
Bachelor's degree, required; or
Associate's degree and two years of experience with insurance contract and compliance analysis, Law, Underwriting, Claims, or related business unit with working knowledge of assigned lines of business, required; or
High school diploma, or GED, and four years of experience with insurance contract and compliance analysis, Law, Underwriting, Claims, or related business unit with working knowledge of assigned lines of business, required.
Successful completion of General Insurance Program, preferred, one part of CIC, or one part of CPCU, preferred. Knowledge of applicable policies and forms related to specific lines of business preferred. Knowledge of insurance regulations as related to applicable lines of business preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred.
