Job Summary:
The Perioperative Services Director has 24-hour responsibility for Downtown Surgical Services Pre & Post-operative locations. These locations include Pre-Admission Testing, Surgical Ambulatory Care Unit(SACU), Preoperative Holding area (BEH), Miller Eye/GI pre/post beds, and Post Anesthesia Care Units (BEH). This oversight includes maximizing quality, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness in each of these areas. Additional responsibilities include operational and capital strategic planning for the department, fiscal management, oversight for program development, customer satisfaction, and the performance of the staff.
Education:
Required:
Graduate from an accredited School of nursing, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Management, Business, or other related field. {Permissible to complete degree within 3-5 years of employment if not held at point of hire.}
Preferred:
MSN or Masters in a related administrative/management degree.
Experience:
Required:
Five years' clinical experience required, including experience in either the critical care of PACU setting with evidence of leadership abilities
Preferred:
Previous management experience
Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
Current Registered Nurse licensure to practice in the State of Tennessee as appropriate.
BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward
ACLS {Permissible to obtain Certification within one year of employment if not held at point of hire.}

ASPAN Certification

Responsibilities include successful patient quality outcomes demonstrated by accountability for retention and people development, business and financial strategic outcomes along with successful leadership abilities through support of Erlanger Health systems philosophy and objectives.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures. This is done through evaluation of direct supervisor by direct observation, in a skills lab, or discussed verbally or written. Competency can also be evaluated by a formal peer review process and/or by self assessment based on objective criteria that is reviewed and validated.
