P osition Summary: A Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides coordinated occupational therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPON SIBILITIES
Patient Care:
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy assistant with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.
2. Current Texas State License to practice occupational therapy.
3. Two-year experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
4. Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies.
5. Proof of current CPR and Hepatitis profile
6. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
SKILLS REQUIRED
1. Good interpersonal skills.
2. Organized and resourceful self-starter, strong ability to work in a team.
3. Excellent observation, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
4. Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required.
5. Works in a health care facility or patients' residence in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.
6. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho- social needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
7. Pull, push and or lift 15-20 pounds on a daily basis. Pull / push 125-200 pounds on a regular basis. Pulls/push 200 or more pounds on a regular basis
· Sits, stands stoops, squats, walks, and moves intermittently during work hours.
· Drives in own car to and from patients’ home. Work in patient(s) homes as well as agency office.
· Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
