ESC Region 11 is Hiring a Translator - Contract, As Needed Near Alvord, TX
This is an hourly contract position, as needed.
Pay Rate: $30.00/hour

Primary Purpose:
Translate spoken and written words from one language to another. Prepare documents and other materials at the department and district level. Provide simultaneous translations during formal presentations and other meetings.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking both English and assigned language using standard conventions
Ability to adapt language based on the level of the student and parent.
Ability to use software to do word processing and formatting of web pages
Ability to communicate effectively with others
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Translate and prepare documents, publications, and other written communications from English to designated language and vice versa following established rules pertaining to word meaning, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, and mechanics.
- Interpret and translate objectively and with accuracy during meetings, conferences, telephone calls, in-person conversations, and emergency situations.
- Assist with the school enrollment process.
- Serve as liaison between the school and cultural groups and organizations in the community.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds)
Environment: Occasional districtwide and statewide travel; some prolonged or irregular hours
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
