PERMANENT CAFETERIA CASHIER

Primary Function :

This position is responsible for accurately identifying and recording meals according to USDA National School Lunch and Breakfast program guidelines, collecting and handling monies at the point of service in a friendly and professional manner towards all students and teachers and all aspects of food production and safety in keeping within sanitation, food cost, scheduling and cleaning guidelines at assigned school.

Requirements

  • Educational Level : High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification / Experience : completion or pursuit of completion of one class, driver's license.
  • Proficiency Skills : Written and oral communication skills, math and money handling, deal with multiple tasks, basic computer competence, calculator and money collection procedures.
  • Personal Skills : Immaculately clean and well groomed, excellent health.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Clear Criminal Background Check
  • ESS Orientation / Training class

Essential Duties : When used as an evaluation instrument the evaluator is to mark each item by circling S for tasks in which the employee meets or exceeds expectations and NI for tasks in which the employee has not met expectations.

The primary reason for this evaluation is to promote growth of the employee necessary to fulfill these expectations.

  • Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance. Number of annual absences to date :
  • Ensures primary workstation and responsibilities are covered at all times during the working day.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer applications as applicable to job responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of machinery and appliances as applicable to job responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates appropriate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Acts in a professional manner and maintains a professional attitude towards the public and colleagues; adheres to cultural diversity guidelines, and exhibits the fundamentals of good public / customer service.

Adheres to the PSC Code of Ethics, as related to job requirements.

  • Complies with school, system, state and federal regulations and policies.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and material; adheres to chain of command.
  • Maintains a professional, clean, and well-groomed appearance as appropriate for job responsibilities.
  • Maintains and improves knowledge and skills to promote proficiency in all aspects of day to day operations of an efficient well-organized school nutrition program.
  • Participates in workshops and staff development activities and applies what is learned to the job; accepts new challenges in a professional manner.
  • Shows initiative and assumes responsibility for all aspects of job responsibilities; performs routine duties and tasks with little or no direct supervision.
  • Exhibits time on task and a flexible, cooperative, progressive and hard working attitude and style. Limits personal business and phone calls during work hours.
  • Communicates well with manager, workers, school staff and students.
  • Approves applications promptly.
  • Assigns meal numbers to new students and employees and deletes numbers when students withdraw from school in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate enrollment and free / reduced records with school and county office.
  • Enters prepayments and meal numbers into computer and balances with cash at the end of the day.
  • Assesses tray for reimbursable meals.
  • Accurately counts and reconciles cash and prepares
  • Treats all customers in a friendly, responsive and professional manner.
  • Communicates weekly with principal or designee about excess charges.
  • Trains backup school staff in all responsibilities of cashier.
  • Enhances the climate of the building and the morale of colleagues.
  • Demonstrates loyalty to the school system and administration.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the manager, principal or director.
