About the Role
Data Strategy involves transforming the way our clients think about, organize and orchestrate data & technology to deliver more timely, engaging brand experience for their customers. This involves thinking through the overall design of their ad stack, how they capture, manage and segment audience data, how they augment this with strategic partnerships, what should be the shape of their reporting, right down to the policies they need to govern their data in a safe and compliant way.
This role has a strong focus on audience planning & targeting, ad tech consultancy and adhering to data privacy best practice.
We are looking for a Data and Audience Strategist -Associate Director who will work with clients on the creation and implementation of an audience strategy including data acquisition strategy, audience insights creation as well as audience architecture to support strategy, planning and campaign activation.
Key Responsibilities:
Audience Data Enablement & Activation
o Develop first party data acquisition strategy, evaluating client landscape and working directly with key stakeholders (client & agency) to identify existing available data to develop holistic data strategy.
o Lead the creation of audience strategy for retention, acquisition, and opportunistic white space to deliver growth.
o Support the Comm Strategy team as they create audience insights, market, and audience sizing through syndicated platforms and lead the audience creation/ segmentation/validation with addressable targeting signals for media activation
o Identify data gaps/requirements to continue elevating client’s deliverables.
o Collaborate and support response to briefs to ensure data strategy recommendations are integrated, clear to understand and any technical terms or processes explained.
o Improve the efficiency of paid media activities through the use of 1st, 2nd party and 3rd party data sets, translating planning and Comm Strategy audiences into addressable targets.
o Support the onboarding of vendors through the BTG vendor approval process. This will include assessing vendor data collection processes and brand safety suitability.
o Maintain an oversight of the data partner market and lead the completion of regular vendors RFI to inform recommendations. Support Planning and Activation teams with partners’ evaluations, tests and onboarding.
Audience Insights & Analytics
o Create test & learn agenda in partnership with planning, investments, activation and analytics teams to validate hypotheses around the use of audience data.
Industry Data Governance & Thought Leadership
o Lead creation of hypotheses, use cases, roadmap to implement all changes driven by industry data governance, including the deprecation of third-party cookies
o Update clients about industry trends/changes impacting audience strategies.
o Bring to the account and to the clients forward-thinking best-in-class thought leadership, specifically in approaches to 1st party data collection, enhancement and use cases for audience insights and media activation
Data & Technology Product Utilization:
o Identify and evaluate most relevant data sources (survey-based, behavioral, intent, passion points, triggers, motivation, transactional, psychographic, location…), data-driven solutions and technology partners (identity, CRM, CDP…).
o Leverage Choreograph, groupM, WPP partners and data-driven capabilities to uncover additional client opportunities for organic growth, pilot testing, etc.
o Contribute and support on advising on client tech stack, identifying and recommending technology and platforms to ensure greater use of data, for insights and targeting. This will encompass data audits of a client’s current setup, as well as leading data and tech partner evaluations.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field. OR equivalent professional work experience.
· 5 to 8 years of work experience in audience and data strategy applicable to marketing and/or media including, but not limited to audience planning, ad tech or programmatic roles.
· Knowledgeable about digital data technologies and partners (1st and 3rd party data, data lakes, data clean rooms, identity solutions, CDP, Clean Room, CRM, DSP …)
· Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
· Strategic Thinker & Doer.
· Strong speaking and written professional communication skills.

· Experience within the Google Marketing Platform, in particular, DV360, Campaign Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads and/or Social media platforms (Facebook, Snapchat)
Desirable:
· Working experience building audiences in media platforms and applying ruled-based segmentation
· Experience with data clean rooms such as Snowflake, InfoSum, Permutive, Habu etc.
· Experience with Google Marketing Platform, in particular DV360, Campaign Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads and Google Cloud Platform for audience data management
· Knowledge of GDPR, IDFA and Apple (Safari)/Google (Chrome) announcements with a clear understanding of how this impacts on data use in media

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $75,000 to $180,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
