- Create and develop 6 month operating plans to achieve objectives
- Manages and coordinates the activities of multiple departments
- Creates a high performing culture that drives innovation but is built on process and planning disciplines
- Successfully builds contingency actions and plans to meet customer needs
- Demonstrates advanced problem solving skills
- Identifies and removes barriers to achieve operational goals.
- Ensures adequate staffing levels according to the departments’ workload. Coordinates necessary staffing changes across departments based on projected volume.
- Lead and support the application of quality systems and structured improvement business system frameworks (i.e. HPT, Lean, Six Sigma).
- Identify and recommend new process improvements, supply chain opportunities, technological enhancements and workflow efficiencies. Sell and influence positive change in the organization.
- Ensures proper safety focus and required safety processes/training are implemented.
- Maintains functional plans around workforce planning, communications planning, and operational planning.
- Find synergies and best practices among the multiple business units that drive cost savings, improve processes, and consistency of the customer experience.
- Understands and demonstrates Essendant's Core Values.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly and serve as a subject matter expert in a short timeframe
- Ability to effectively apply Operations Research methods (mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and optimization) in a distribution environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to lead and work with cross-functional business and/or process teams.
- Strong problem solving skills – inquiry, analysis, fact finding and solution identification.
- Solid understanding of continuous process improvement methodologies: 6 Sigma, Lean, etc.
- Strong collaborative skills to interact with other functions.
- Strong planning, change management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate ability to solve problems, achieve results and foster strong customer service orientation.
- High degree of initiative, team building and dedication to effective positive change.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Experience with large scale start-up operations and/or highly complex DC operations
- Demonstrated successful track record with succession planning and building collaborative work teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics or related discipline required.
- Minimum five years of job related experience required.
