Position Summary: Cleans common areas of residential sorority facility. Uses provided cleaning supplies and works with House Director to order materials or suggest different materials when needed.

Priorities

• Assure the facility is cleaned in such a way that shall protect the safety, health, and well-being of all members.
• Assure the facility common areas are in tip top shape at all times ready for guests and visitors.
• Protect and support the positive reputation of Alpha Phi, including its individual members, the chapter and all volunteers and staff on the University of Kentucky campus and the Lexington community
• Keep all Alpha Phi information, business, and member practices in strictest confidentiality. This includes private member actions or information, all chapter information or practices and all information related the operation of the chapter or facility. Respect for individual privacy and dignity is expected from all staff.
• Regular consultation with the House Director, HCB treasurer, and/or accountant is expected.

Work Hours

• Hours of Employment: this position is seasonal, matching the academic -year of the university. Guaranteed work for 36 weeks a year. The housekeeper shall work a 6-8 hour day with negotiable hours between 7am-8pm. Hours may be adjusted, with approval by the House Director, to accommodate coming in or leaving early when needed.
• The Housekeeper will work normal hours on University School Holidays, unless otherwise notified.
• The Housekeeper will have un-paid time off during winter break and summer break..

Essential Functions

• Easily able to ascend and descend 4 flights of stairs routinely throughout the day.
• Able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Able to perform duties with prolonged periods of standing and walking, and semi-frequent pulling, pushing, and bending.
• Vision required to see electronic devices and inspect properties.
• Work both independently and as part of a team.
• Give and receive written and verbal instructions in a clear and professional manner.

Dress Code

• Closed toe shoes are required.
• Employee is expected to look professional and well-groomed in attire that is clean and laundered.

Scope of Work

The First Floor:

Vacuum the hallway carpet, formal and informal living areas

Clear cobwebs on the front porch and around the front door

Clean tops of tables of any obvious spills or debris

Empty trash/replace liner of mail room trash

Straighten pillows on the sofa and chairs

Clean all interior door glass

Dust all furniture and fixtures

Sweep and mop any tiled/hardwood floors

Community/Public Restrooms

• Clean and disinfect all sinks, counter tops, faucets, and knobs
• Disinfect toilets and stalls
• Clean mirrors
• Empty trash/replace liners
• Restock other supplies as necessary
• Sweep and mop the floor
• Spot clean walls
• Clean interior windows

The Second/Third Floor:

Vacuum hallways and common areas

Dust all furniture and fixtures

Clean hallway mirrors, pictures, fixtures

Clean kitchenettes

• Clean insides of microwaves
• Clean inside of refrigerators
• Clean sink and countertops
• Scrub and mop floors
• Re-fill supplies as needed

Laundry Room:

Clean the outsides of washers and dryers in laundry room

Clean out dryer vents

Sweep and mop laundry room floor

Daily/Weekly/Bi-Weekly (as determined by need)

Dust all wood furnishings

Dust all fixtures (i.e. trophies, vases, frames, etc)

Remove cobwebs throughout

Sanitize handrails

Wash bathroom mats

Clean kitchenette and refrigerators in kitchenettes

Clean/disinfect all restrooms to include:

Toilets

Sinks and countertops

Vanity inside and out

Mirrors

Showers

Re-hang shower curtains if they’ve fallen

Wash, dry, and put bath mats back on floors

Sweep and mop floors

Re-fill supplies as needed

Dining Room:

Sweep and mop dining room floor

Disinfect dining room tables/chairs

Clean snack fridge

Clean interior windows

Outside

Patio-sweep debris of Patio and stair ways

Keep patio clean of cob-webs

End of Semester Cleaning (twice a year deep clean):

Disinfect all furniture including:

Bed Frames

Chest of Drawers (inside and out)

Chairs

Disinfect window ledges

Disinfect door frames and door knobs

Clear cob webs

Clean room vents

Clean mirrors

Clean/dust closet shelves

Clean door trim

Vacuum floors

Other duties as assigned
