POSITION TITLE: Global Procurement Category Lead – Market Access

DURATION: Through 2024

Durham NC HYBRID: On-site at least 2-3 days/week required

Pay Range: $68.76/hr on W2

Purpose:

Senior Global Category Manager for Market Access within the Sales Enablement Procurement team will be accountable for all sourcing and contract management across their assigned category. This will include the development and implementation of category strategies; the contracting for master/service/product agreements within the categories; the management of supplier relationships that fall outside of the enterprise SRM structure for these categories; and for ensuring the suppliers key to their category(ies) commit to deliver Client’s performance/quality/financial requirements.

Sales and Medical Engagement procurement is a highly commercial, business critical area that is driving transformational change and patient-first strategies. Procurement has the opportunity to help shape what the future of market access and HCP engagement could look like, driving innovation and challenging the status quo for on sale products and future launches, driving real impact to top line growth and patient identification access and adherence.

Market access activities may sit within, but not be limited to the following areas:

- Research and analysis activities supporting successful product launch

- Rapid and maintained access to medicines for as many patients as possible who would benefit

- Optimal pricing and reimbursement

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy Development:

• Procurement category strategy leadership for Market Access Procurement, leading the development, management and implementation of comprehensive Commercial strategies on a global scale that deliver the business requirements across assurance of supply, quality, service, cost and innovation.

Strategy Implementation:

• Lead and implement key projects to support value delivery for Client: this may take many forms : patient identification, patient reach/access, patient adherence, customer engagement, ROI, top line growth but also the more traditional procurement savings delivery or risk mitigation

• Negotiate contracts with suppliers that secure favorable terms for Client in line with the agreed business requirements.

• Contract planning, negotiation, execution, interpretation and maintenance; manages / monitors ongoing negotiations with 3rd parties.

• Running competitive sourcing processes (RFP/RFQ/eAuctions) to identify new suppliers and solutions aligned to our evolving business needs

Business partnering & stakeholder management in Client:

• Global leadership and global influence including business partnering of senior stakeholders (up to SVP level).

• Build strategic relationships with Client stakeholders, to understand business requirements, identify opportunities to create value and to position Procurement’s value proposition. Align sourcing strategies accordingly.

• Lead stakeholder alignment and annual value plan delivery (Commercial leadership and Finance across the business)

• Working across multiple countries requiring high cultural awareness

External supplier relationships:

• Lead SRM for key strategic vendors in the market access spend category

• Manage key market access suppliers through a robust performance management process. Ensure supplier performance is understood and measured.

• Requires significant external supplier knowledge.

Business Strategy:

• Champions the sourcing group management process and policies across functions and links these to Client's strategic direction

• Knows and utilizes complex business processes in all Client supplier transactions, including all risk/regulatory/compliance requirements

Minimum Level of Education Required:

- University Degree (Preference of business-related degrees but not mandatory) A university degree enables a better preparation and thinking to perform the activities in the role, which are related to solving complex problems and taking accurate and timely decisions.

Preferred Level of Education:

- Master's Degree (Preference of business-related degrees but not mandatory) The role requires the ability to develop sophisticated commercial procurement strategies that align with the business’s needs. A strong understanding of business and financial analysis will facilitate success. Ability to communicate with senior Finance managers is required.

Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience Required:

• Solid commercial understanding of the US health system, along with market access services and healthcare professional engagement

• Understanding of the compliance aspects associated with market access in the Rx industry.

• Strong Procurement experience particularly with respect to developing & implementing strategies, stakeholder management and supplier relationship management and some experience of regulated environments

• Demonstrated experience in influencing strategy and managing across multiple markets

• Leadership/communication skills

• Good understanding of Procurement tools/skillset such as sourcing, RFP processes, quotation analysis, contract negotiation, supplier review, supplier development and others

• Good ability to motivate and inspire colleagues within a matrix structure, and work in partnership with others to drive, implement and support change

• Good ability to manage sensitive partnerships, strong influencing and stakeholder partnering skills coupled with excellent negotiation and communication skills

• English proficiency (written and oral), other language will be a plus

• Good knowledge of finance (cost benchmark & financial audit with key supplier) and legal matters (contracting)

• Demonstrated experience in managing global projects

• Contracting experience required, including a thorough understanding of contracting fundamentals and experience with contract planning, negotiation, execution, interpretation and maintenance

Knowledge and Application:

• Develop strategy for the assigned categories designed to ensure high quality of services and ensure Client’s competitive position

• Collaborate and partner with key stakeholders to deploy strategies globally/regionally, facilitated by robust implementation and transition plans

• Generate value in terms of quality, delivery, and cost; contribute significantly to organization’s goals and objectives

• Experience delivering quality, compliant, timely, well-specified agreements to generate a clear return on investment

• Market knowledge of supplier capabilities (current and future) is required to acquire and maintain competitive advantage.

Problem Solving & Innovation:

• Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships

• Demonstrated ability to effectively use negotiation and conflict resolution skills to protect Client rights and interests

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks across multiple projects using project management skills

• Proven ability to provide effective procurement management in complex organizations using technical expertise and analytical skills

Interaction:

- Typically interacts with Director / VP level with less frequent but still some exposure to SVP level

- Demonstrated success in collaboration with a wide range of senior leaders and key suppliers

- Constructively challenging stakeholders within their field of expertise in order to maximize ROI and align category strategy across multiple markets, and/ or focus on a deep detailed strategy for larger markets. To do this a high degree of credibility will be required along with the ability to hold robust debates with senior leaders in Client and suppliers

Multi-Cultural Requirements:

- This is a global role and will require a strong understanding of cultural differences with regards to negotiation and managing strategic relationships.

Impact:

- This role will have a significant impact on Client's overall strategies and activities, requiring engagement with stakeholders.

- This role has the potential to significantly impact the Client's sales and patient impact of in line brands and future launches in multiple countries. A level of influence that is not always seen in traditional procurement categories.

- The efforts and priorities of this role will include supporting the on-time delivery of the assigned category area pipeline, ensuring compliance/quality/performance/value of the services/products acquired, and identifying opportunities to accelerate improvements to each.

- This role will increase the level of trust with current and potential Client's suppliers to define new commercial/contractual options to improve cost model transparency, from project budget elaboration to project completion.
