Salary Range$163,000.00 - $211,000.00
What’s the role?We are looking for a Manager, Risk Analytics to lead a team of analysts focused on identifying and mitigating potential risks on the platform. If you are passionate about recognizing patterns, generating insights, and moving toward solutions for risk prevention, this is a great opportunity for you!
As a Manager, Risk Analytics, you will collaborate with product, engineering, design and operations to prevent, detect, and enforce various risks on Etsy. If you find joy in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly, possess analytics experience, and have deep risk domain knowledge, this could be the perfect match!
This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing Analytics & Strategic Finance. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What’s this team like at Etsy?
- The Risk Analytics team partners closely with leads across Risk Operations and Product & Engineering to develop a risk strategy, ensure business goals are met or exceeded, and manage the rapidly changing environment of platform risks.
- More broadly, the Analytics team at Etsy helps drive the success of our partners by providing meaningful insights, industry-leading measurement techniques, and access to the metrics, data, and tools needed for decision-making and optimization. We partner with our peers through all stages of development: identifying initial opportunities, analyzing the impact of our efforts, and highlighting improvement areas. Ultimately, the team’s work strengthens Etsy and helps continuously improve the Etsy experience.
- You will lead a team of analysts responsible for generating insights that inform our risk strategy and implementation of machine learning models
- You will maintain develop and monitor reports that shed light on emerging threats and progress towards business goals
- You will collaborate with leadership, program management, and Product Engineering around identifying and understanding emerging trends.
- You will serve as the SME in risk data platform conversations with Product Engineering as needed
- Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.
- Proven success leading Analytics or Data Science teams in e-commerce or another internet-based industry
- 5 years of risk prevention experience
- Experience with large datasets, sophisticated analytical techniques, and using data to influence business decisions
- Successful track record of distilling highly complex problems into narratives that are concise, action-focused, and memorable for senior audiences
- High proficiency with SQL, R and/or Python, as well as statistical metrics such as precision, recall, and false positive rates
- An ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment, easily adapting to new platform risks and using data-driven insights to guide decisions in ambiguous situations
- A trust in and dedication to Etsy’s vision, mission and values
