Job DescriptionJob Overview: The Medical Technologist is responsible for analyzing samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results. This role requires a deep understanding of medical laboratory procedures, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of laboratory tests on patient samples using automated and manual methods.
- Analyze and interpret test results to provide accurate and reliable information to clients.
- Ensure the proper collection, handling, and preservation of specimens.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance.
- Follow established protocols and procedures to maintain the integrity of laboratory results.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Stay updated on advancements in medical laboratory technology and incorporate new techniques as appropriate.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Assist in the training and supervision of laboratory assistants and other staff members.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of medical laboratory procedures, techniques, and equipment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in performing laboratory tests.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems and proficiency in computer skills.
- Current knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards.
Additional InformationPosition is full-time Tuesday-Saturday 8:00am-4:30pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Louisville, KY are encouraged to apply.
