Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Materials Testing Technician II to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting tests on construction materials to ensure their quality and compliance with regulations and project specifications. You will perform various tests on soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials, and accurately record and report test results. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of testing procedures and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform tests on construction materials, including soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and more to determine their strength, composition, and other properties.
- Utilize a variety of testing equipment and tools, such as sieves, scales, electronic meters, and sampling devices.
- Execute tests according to established procedures and standards, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
- Conduct on-site inspections and collect samples from construction sites.
- Maintain detailed records of tests performed including equipment used, test results, and any issues encountered.
- Analyze test data and prepare reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide technical expertise and support.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations during testing activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, and ensure proper maintenance and calibration of testing equipment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.Associate's degree in civil engineering technology or related field preferred.
- At least two years of experience working as a Construction Materials Testing Technician or a similar role.
- Solid knowledge of construction materials testing methods, procedures, and equipment.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as ASTM and ACI.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately interpret and analyze test data.
- Proficient in using testing equipment and tools, and comfortable with various computer software applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage time, prioritizing tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to construction sites as required.
