Panasonic manufactures and supplies cylindrical lithium-ion cells for the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer, Tesla Motors, Inc. Based on the battery demand from Tesla, the Gigafactory plans to produce cells which will double the world’s current production. Essential Duties
Establishing procurement control requirements with customers for the battery production process.
Conducting investigations within production process to identify material root cause.
Direct and assist business functions with sourcing new items, equipment, and materials/ingredients for new product development, risk assessments, and cost savings projects. Handle more complex and critical purchases.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail are required.
Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel with analytics skills, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Experience in management consulting or corporate strategy/strategy & business operations.
Experience in RFP development, proposal evaluation, and contract and budget management
Experienced problem-solver able to both delve into the details and operational tactics and engage meaningfully on the big picture or overall strategy.
Experience working in a high-volume, time sensitive operation; possesses strong supervisory and motivational skills; demonstrates a high standard of professional judgement; critical thinking skills.
Ability to interact and support effectively with various levels of management is required.
Manage people and resolve conflicts while maintaining a positive work environment.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is a requirement for some roles at PENA and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Basic/Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain, or similar discipline.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Economics, Engineering, or similar discipline.
Essential Qualifications

2 years of management experience in centralized procurement environment.
5 years of relevant strategic sourcing experience demonstrating success in positions of increasing complexity.
Japanese and language fluency highly required.
Procurement data analysis experience utilizing tools such as SAP SRM/R3.
Proven negotiation and interpersonal skills.
High level competence in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Experience conducting purchasing investigations/reviews, accounts payable, and inventory control.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong cross-functional project management skills, including process design and documentation.
Work experience with automotive, consumer electronics, battery customers, tiered suppliers, or equivalent.
Experience negotiating customer supply agreements with battery manufacturers and/or automotive and consumer electronics OEMs or tiered suppliers.
Start-up experience.
Fluent written and verbal proficiency in Japanese language both verbal and written.
