What To ExpectThe Tesla Robotics Team designs and builds humanoid bi-pedal robots (Tesla Bot) to perform tasks that are boring, repetitive, and dangerous for humans. As a Mechanical Product Design Engineer for the Tesla-Bot program you will be responsible for developing the electrical architecture of the humanoid robot. You will own the ground up design for harnesses, connectors, and novel dynamic electromechanical devices. Your primary goal will be to develop a highly integrated product by contributing to the electrical architecture decisions, consolidating endpoints, and exploring new ways to transfer power and comms from point to point. This is a fast-paced, mission critical role in which you will solve problems unique to the humanoid robotics field.
What You'll DoLead high-visibility, cross-functional projects for mechanical design and packaging of components to meet product and system level requirements while optimizing for product attributes Develop novel power and communication distribution, endpoint consolidation, manufacturability improvement, and robust solution building for iterative changes Have design responsibility for diverse products, including wire harnesses, jumpers, busbars, plastic/metal component design, integration in enclosures, and electronic component packaging Have engineering responsibility across all stages of product development, collaborating with suppliers, Tesla SIE's/GSM's, overseeing prototyping, and managing RC, Beta, and Pilot builds
What You'll BringBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics or equivalent experienceStrong knowledge of materials, fabrication methods for low and high volume Analytical background for successful design (tolerance stack-ups, solid mechanics, thermal, cost and mass optimization) Passion for electro-mechanical product design and finding simpler solutions to meet requirements Ability to present data/trade-offs to facilitate decision making Experience taking projects from concept to production CAD experience, 2D and 3D (Catia preferred)

$88,000 - $324,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
