Nikola is seeking an energetic, motivated individual for the Senior BOM Specialist position to support our vehicle launch and material change processes. The Senior BOM Specialist will work closely with all departments engaged in the launch process to support our growing product lines of disruptive transportation solutions and will be responsible for analyzing, updating and maintaining the Build Plan/Manufacturing Bill of Materials. This also includes maintenance of the item master parameters in PLM and ERP system and communication of any potential supply interruptions. Effectively communicate and provide coordination of trial and changing parts to the engineering and manufacturing teams, managing the planned implementation dates to the assembly plant and work with related departments for on-time implementation and communication of any changes to those dates.
Responsibilities
  • This position is responsible for the correct engineering change implementation in the manufacturing environment by managing the manufacturing change actions and manufacturing deviations within the Manufacturing Bill of Materials, caring for technical compatibility, prior to change introduction.
  • Support the Design Responsible Engineer for eBOM change implementation related issues.
  • Work with Design Responsible Engineers, PLM, Production Control and Change Management to resolve and close eBOM/mBOM related issues.
  • Coordinate with Production Control to assure the latest build plan and revised effective dates of changes are communicated.
  • Understand inventory locations and levels of changing parts by working with related departments for a continuous flow of parts for trials, or production parts after implementation of changes.
  • Participate in change control meetings to understand scope of product changes and timing.
  • Maintain metrics, process documentation and status reports to maintain mBOM accuracy.
  • Full understanding of upstream and downstream tool impacts, e.g., PLM, MES, and ERP applications.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Project Management preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • 5 years working in any of Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, Material Readiness, Command Center, Pre-series Coordinator, Materials Change coordinator or a related job.
  • Vehicle Launch experience (OEM experience is a plus)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with a customer-driven focus and sense of urgency.
  • Attention to detail and data quality.
  • Strong computer abilities. I.E. Excel, Power BI.
  • Ability to collect, compile, interpret product data quickly. I.E CAD and Databases.
  • Relevant experience: inventory control systems and knowledge of EBOM/MBOM and Master Data structures.
  • Experience in the automotive industry; Supply Chain and Manufacturing areas.
  • Experience with PDM/PLM applications (Team-Center & 3DExperience)
  • Experience with ERP applications (SAP 4HANA is a plus)
  • Must have hands-on experience with Change Management tools and processes (ENOVIA and DELMIA)
  • Working knowledge of vehicle product structure and vehicle manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of product design and vehicle development process.
  • Independent worker with the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is critical.
