Job SummaryThe Veteran/International Student Coordinator serves as the primary contact and Responsible Officer (RO) for veteran and international students.
  • The coordinator serves as the administrator for the Department of Defense’s tuition assistance programs.
  • The coordinator serves as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) responsible for all requirements associated with hosting F-1 students.
  • The coordinator assists with the recruitment and retention of veterans as needed or directed. The coordinator is not responsible for recruitment of international students.
  • The position reports to the Vice President for Enrollment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Veteran Students)
  • Manages the Veterans Center and serves EU’s veterans and their dependents.
  • Serves as a resource to students, faculty, and staff regarding military educational benefits and chaplain candidate preparation.
  • Serves as a liaison between VA students, the university, and the VA.
  • Stays current on VA and DOD regulations and makes timely reports to the VA and DoD to maintain compliance and top standing .
  • Works and coordinates with AG Chaplaincy Ministries, the Director of Chaplaincy, and the Military/VA Chaplaincy endorser’s office at the NLRC to assist chaplain candidates with support, information, and services as needed or required.
  • Assists the University and Seminary in recruiting and retention efforts including outreach campaigns (call, email, text), visit events, and outbound recruiting with special emphasis on veterans and military chaplains as needed.
  • Participates in university and AGTS events as needed or required. This could include special services, receptions, graduations, orientations, etc.
  • Coordinates with various University departments regarding training university staff on VA benefits, and issues.
  • Collaborates with enrollment concerning marketing needs and opportunities for AGTS and veterans programs
  • Acts as a liaison for ROTC cadets between the school, MSU and Army Cadet Command
  • Completes ROTC cadet student academic registration with MSU, including academic advising in conjunction with EU academic advisor, completing and submitting 104r.
  • Completes ROTC billing through GoArmyEd
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (International Students)
  • Serves as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for the F-1 Student Visa Program and is the main point of contact with SEVP on any issues that relate to school compliance with regulations.
  • Updates the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) to reflect the addition or deletion of any DSO.
  • Updates and maintains student records in SEVIS.
  • Serves as the responsible party to apply and oversee university recertification.
  • Adds or deletes instructional sites as approved.
  • Responds to SEVP regarding SEVIS-generated system alerts, such as the Annual DSO Verification.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for international student enrollment and immigration status certification.
  • Provides analysis and interpretation of immigration regulations for foreign nationals.
  • Works with admissions officers responsible for the recruitment and admission of international students. Stays abreast of latest developments that impact international admissions with relation to changes in educational systems, world events, and technology.
  • Develops resources for prospective and current international students. Examples include, but are not limited to: information related to admission, entering or reentering the U.S., maintaining legal status, Occupational Practical Training (OPT) and Curricular Practical Training (CPT), obtaining a social security card, student employment, obtaining a driver’s license, health insurance, and other important information/tips.
  • Updates records for students and dependents (Form I-20): Actions could include: Authorization to drop below full course, change education level, complete program, disciplinary action, extend program, registration, shorten program, terminate student, transfer out.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or Lawful permanent resident (LPR) of the United States
  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
  • Excellent communication and public relation skills
  • Knowledge of VA and DoD systems and programs a plus
  • Knowledge of both military and civilian structures to assist veterans in transition a plus
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel (or compatible software)
  • Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills (including helpful, pleasant telephone etiquette)
  • Ability to accurately gather data and prepare basic reports
  • Ability to learn quickly and analyze systems
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to provide excellent user experience for students and partners
Experience
  • Experience with records management, CRM, and SIS systems a plus
  • DoD and VA experience preferred
