SUMMARY
The RN Surgical Services may work in any of the Surgical Services Line sites including Hosptial OR and related, EASC, and ECHEC. This position assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care according to established nursing care standards. RNs will be trained in one or more of the following areas as determined by their supervisor: Pre-Admission Care, Pre-Op Area, Operating Room, PACU/One Day Surgery, Endo, and Post-Operative Care.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Requires an RN licensed or eligible in Pennsylvania; graduate nurse must acquire a permanent license within 3 months of hire and out of state transfer must acquire a PA regular license within one year of hire.
2. Previous Medical/Surgical Nursing and/or Surgical Services experience preferred. Certification recommended.
3. RN's hired must obtain and maintain ACLS within 3 months of hire and PALS within one year of hire or as available thru nursing education. Pre-Admission RNs that do not rotate to any other area within the SSL must maintain BLS as hospital standard. OR and Endo RNs that do not rotate to any other area within the SSL line are not required to take PALS. Until PALS is obtained, the RN will not be assigned to care for children. Staff hired prior to 1/1/2021 working in areas now requiring ACLS and PALS will have until 7/1/2022 to acquire the required certification to continue to work in those areas. If staff do not acquire the required certification they would no longer be able to work in those areas but could transfer to areas for which they qualify.
4. Pennsylvania state police criminal record check, child abuse history clearance and an FBI criminal history check required.
