DESCRIPTION:

PreK-8 Paraprofessionals:

Paraprofessionals will support special education students in small group educational classrooms and assist the special education teacher in the implementation of IEP’s. Paraprofessionals will support students with all necessary life skills. Paraprofessionals will assist the special education teacher with data collection.

ABA Paraprofessional(s)ABA paraprofessionals will work with students in a one on one and small group setting, implementing ABA services as delineated on IEP service delivery grids. ABA paraprofessionals will support student transitions throughout the day. ABA staff will implement behavior analytic programming, collect data, and support student behavior through intervention and modeling. ABA therapists will summarize and report out on ABA data at the end of the program in collaboration with a BCBA. ABA paraprofessionals will work with the BCBA to schedule ABA services per the IEP.

EHS Paraprofessional(s)Paraprofessionals will support special education students in small group educational classrooms and assist the special education teacher in the implementation of IEP’s. Paraprofessionals will support students with all necessary life skills. Paraprofessionals will assist the special education teacher with data collection.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school degree or higher 
  • Enjoys working with children and is dedicated to the education of all children
  • Experience working in an urban district.
  • EPS respects linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring value to the district culture and diversity.

WORKING TIMES:

23 Days of summer school (July 1-3rd, July 8th-August 2nd, 2024) 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • General support of a classroom or classrooms
  • Provide academic support and carry over of the lessons the teacher and special education teacher has developed
  • Provide all accommodations delineated within a student's’ designated IEP/504
  • Implement modifications that have been developed by the classroom teacher and/or Special Education teacher
  • Develop materials based on specific instruction from the classroom teacher and/or Special Education teacher
  • Create opportunities and instructs students to be independent in a variety of settings across their school day
  • Potentially assigned to multiple/different classroom grade levels
  • Ability to implement behavioral/social support plans within the classroom to individual students or group of students (including but not limited to attending, non-compliance, completion of tasks, following rules and classroom expectations)
  • Provide small- or whole group assistance within the classroom
  • Regular Education and Special Education students will be supported
  • Engage individual and small groups of learners in instructional activities
  • Share relevant information about learners with teachers and other school personnel as needed to facilitate problem solving, decision-making, and program planning
  • Support students to access a variety of technology
  • Complete all required documentation related to incidents, accidents, discipline, assault, etc.
  • Complete data collection related to academic functioning/student performance that supports instruction
  • Facilitate positive relationships and engagements with peers
  • Support students with organization of materials, assignments, and schedules
  • Based on the student population and census in the buildings, may be assigned different buildings
  • Ensure that all accommodations outlined in the IEPs are implemented based on student needs
  • Support students during their specials, lunch, and recess times
  • Facilitate and support arrival and dismissal times
  • Maintain student confidentiality
  • Carry out other assignments designated by the Principal.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to effectively communicate.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, climb, run.
  • The employee must occasionally be able to lift and/or move children/objects.
  • The employee must be able to work in a noisy, stressful, high-pressure environment and still be able to concentrate and keep children safe.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations (e.g. injured student, fights, behavior problems, abusive students, etc).
  • May be exposed to bodily fluids including saliva, urine, feces, vomit, blood and/or other bodily fluids.
  • The job is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness, although in a clean environment.
  • May assist medically fragile or physically disabled students for the purpose of maintaining students' personal hygiene.
  • May assist students with physical and/or cognitive disabilities with grooming, feeding, toileting, diapering.
