Position Description
Provide services for advanced learners aligned with Evergreen’s AIG plan including planning with teachers to support students in the classroom; co-teaching lessons and short units with general education teachers; pushing-in to regular classrooms; and teaching “pull out” projects or courses involving AIG and Talent Pool students. This full-time position will primarily be responsible for services for students in grades 4-8.
Monitor and document data from a variety of sources to assist in the identification of AIG and Talent Pool students. Prepare for and conduct annual progress meetings with families of students formally identified for AIG services.
Work with the administrators to identify progress toward program goals and state standards and facilitate communication and decision-making about services between families and teachers.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and North Carolina teacher licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in elementary and/or middle grades.
Preferred Qualifications: Certification or training in models and specific strategies for teaching advanced learners. Demonstrated expertise in the teaching of advanced learners. Lived experience that supports connections with groups of students who have diverse racial and ethnic identities. Skills/interests in one or more of the following areas: differentiated instruction, social justice, literacy, character education, and service learning.
