Position Description
Provide resource or inclusion services for assigned students following IEP requirements and individual IEP goals. Average caseload is 18 students. Follow all state and federal policies and procedures for the provision of Exceptional Children’s services (including referral, eligibility, planning, and service delivery). Collaborate with general education teachers in the implementation of the EL Education model, which emphasizes integrated, differentiated instruction, experiential learning, collaborative planning and teaching, student responsibility, and community involvement. Collaborate with general education staff and related service providers to ensure the implementation of IEPs in the general education classroom, monitor student progress, and plan for classroom accommodations and modifications. Practice formative and summative assessment, provide critical feedback and guidance, establish rapport with students and parents, and work collaboratively with the middle school team. Professional teachers with passion, flexibility, high expectations, consistent classroom management, and a sense of adventure are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and North Carolina teacher licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in Special Education: General Curriculum K-12.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching elementary and/or middle grade students with special needs. Experience with pull out and inclusion services. Lived experience that supports connections with groups of students who have diverse racial and ethnic identities. Skills/interests in one or more of the following areas: social justice, character education, and service learning.
