Evergreen Enterprises of Virginia is Hiring a Human Resource Director Near Richmond, VA

Summary/Objective
The Human Resource Director leads a team of HR professionals responsible for talent acquisition, employee relations, employee training and development, employee and community activities, rewards and recognition, employee compensation and benefit management. The HR Director will provide leadership in support of the efficient, safe, and productive operation of a multi-branded company with multiple site locations by partnering with operational and functional leaders to drive alignment between business and human resource initiatives. 

Essential Functions

The Human Resource Director is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function for all company sites/locations. Duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Employee relations – Ensure the development and implementation of pro-active employee relations strategies, build and sustain positive working relationships, display substantive skills in conflict resolution, policy, procedures, compliance and performance management.
  • Recruitment – Ensures the development and implementation of effective selection and hiring strategies that are aligned with the achievement of business goals. Be familiar and be able deploy social media recruiting strategies and tactics in support of the organization. 
  • Training and Development –conduct needs assessment and build or purchase and deliver training programs that support skill and competency development in support of key business initiatives.
  • Rewards and Recognition - Responsible for ensuring the implementation of strategic initiatives for all employee activities related to retention, employee morale, employee engagement, employee rewards, recognition, community-based projects, wellness, etc. 
  • Compensation and Benefits - Plan, direct and supervise all activities relating to the administration and maintenance of payroll and employee benefit programs. Develop, implement and control programs in a manner that ensures cost-effectiveness, market competitiveness and internal equity among employees.
  • Develop, prepare, generate and analyze ongoing and ad-hoc special reports pertaining to employee personnel information and data, including but not limited to issues such as benefit costs, staffing levels/deployment, turnover, absenteeism, recruitment, applicant tracking, EEO reporting, compensation, promotions, etc. Effectively utilize HR systems to obtain, store, and analyze pertinent data and information.
  • Maintain and expand knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations affecting human resources management. Identify trends that could impact organizational objectives and/or operational resources. Interpret appropriate laws and policies and advise management and employees as appropriate. Ensures that human resources policies, practices, and procedures comply with federal and state law
  • Provide guidance and input on organizational restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Develops company Human Resource budget and reviews status of budget regularly.
  • The Human Resource Director is responsible for hiring, developing, coaching/counseling and overall management of employees in the Human Resource Department. Meets regularly with HR staff (individually and as a team) to exchange information and provide on-going support and problem resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies

The requirements listed below represent the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required, to perform job function:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent number of years of directly related experience, plus 8 or more years’ experience in human resources with direct involvement in resolving employee relations issues, accompanied by responsibility for the regular and seasonal staffing/recruiting efforts. Prior experience successfully managing direct reports in an HR function or department.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office platform with basic skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Exposure to HR and/or payroll systems.
  • Strong reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate teams with substantive skill in conflict resolution.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities/projects.
  • Ability to lead and manage organizational change.
  • Ability to interpret and understand policies, procedures, and relate them to others.
  • Ability to exhibit sound independent judgment in the resolution of employee relations issues along with the instincts and understanding of when to take a partner.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities with minimal direction.
  • Provides direct supervision to human resource associates.
  • PHR/SPHR is a plus
  • Up to 10% travel.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish or Mandarin is a plus
  • Related industry experience in the wholesale and retail industry preferred.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include evening and weekends, as necessary.
