Title: Service Manager

Company: Evergreen Grease Enterprises, Elkhart, Indiana

Job Status: Full-Time 

Reports To: General Manager

Work Schedule:Typically, Monday – Friday 8am-5pm EST

Travel Requirements: up to 75%

FLSA Status: Exempt 

Job Located:Based out of Elkhart, IN but would service depots in Cleveland, Grand Rapids, and Metro Detroit Area, with Expansion Markets in Chicago, IL, Indianapolis, IN, and Columbus, OH

Compensation: Base Salary $86,500/yr plus bonus opportunities

Newly moved to our industry-redefining headquarters in Elkhart, Indiana, we are passionate about providing value-added services to our loyal 3,500 customers in the greater Midwest region. We are looking for a proven leader to build and grow our fledging added service model to our existing customer base.

What We Do 

We specialize in transforming used cooking oil and other fats, oils, and grease (FOG) into valuable feedstocks for renewable fuel production, including biodiesel, renewable Diesel, and sustainable aviation fuel. 

 Our comprehensive suite of services includes: 

  • Used Cooking Oil Collection: Efficient and dependable collection to ensure your kitchen stays clean and compliant. 
  • Industrial FOG Waste Management: Tailored solutions for the disposal and recycling of industrial waste. 
  • Grease Trap Service & Interceptor Cleaning: Keeping your systems running smoothly with thorough maintenance and cleaning. 
  • Pressure Washing & Line Jetting: High-power cleaning services to maintain optimal facility hygiene and functionality. 

Role Scope

Evergreen Grease Services is on the hunt for a dynamic, strategically minded Service Manager to drive our service department to new heights. We need a dedicated professional who embodies leadership, motivation, and expert service delivery. 

Your Impact:

  • Team Development: Train, develop, and inspire your team to excel in every aspect of their roles, creating accountability standards designed to ensure complete service execution. 
  • Service Stewardship: Collaborate and work together with other company stakeholders to ensure successful service deployment strategies for our customers.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. 

  • Build, manage, and grow the service department, including coaching and professional development of team members. 
  • Own the process from signed service contract through execution, ensuring seamless sales-to-service operations. 
  • Resolve service matters and conduct continuous training to improve methods and ensure team members perform vital services as productively as possible, and with the best customer experience in mind. 
  • Analyze service opportunities and develop strategies for process improvements, service densification, and fiscal responsibility. 
  • Work closely with the Director of Sales, General Manager, and Customer Care Manager on CRM functions for optimized routing and operations. 
  • Develop a thorough understanding of tools and resources for team roles and train teams on their use. 
  • Optimize service scheduling and manage field resources for efficient routes and proactive customer scheduling. 
  • Coach and measure key performance metrics, adherence to service processes, and define the optimal service department structure, complete with management and oversight of the department budget. 
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure company adherence. 
  • Promote and enforce a safety-first approach, attending all safety meetings. 
  • Understand and manage equipment operations (Vac Truck, Truck Pumping, Drum-Head Vacuums, Truck Hoses) and service industry models. 
  • Submit routine equipment maintenance requests and determine necessary maintenance for equipment. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of three (3) years managing teams; physical service-based management experience (HVAC, Plumbing, Waste Management, etc.) preferred.
  • Demonstrated history of achieving goals and strategy development in a physical service-focused role.
  • Advanced computer skills and phone skills, proficiency with Microsoft 365 Products, including Excel.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills. 
  • Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, short and long-form correspondence, and memos.
  • Perform basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). 
  • Follow written, oral, or diagram instructions to solve work-related problems. 
  • Develop and improve the service department with strategic and big-picture thinking. 
  • Collaborate effectively with diverse individuals without making judgments. 
  • High school diploma or GED required. 

Specialized Requirements: 

  • Clean MVR 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a service-focused managerial or leadership-based role.
  • Familiar and competent in EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations 
  • Demonstrated practice of measuring employee accountability standards 
  • Ability to operate with a high level of diplomacy in rigorous, service-minded situations.
  • Knowledge of machine functionality and tools, including their designs, use repair, and maintenance.
  • Pass Background check as required by Company Policy 
  • Able to work under pressure and handle stress. 

Physical Demands: 

  • Required to sit, walk, stand, climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, and crouch. 
  • Vision: Near vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls 
  • Senses of Smell & Sound 
  • Regularly required reach with hands and arms 
  • Regularly required reach above shoulders 
  • Climb steps and ladders 
  • Frequently Lifts/push/pulls/carry up to 50 pounds 
  • Pushing/pulling a maximum force of 75 pounds 
  • Safe Lifting criteria: Floor to knuckle 50 pounds, Shoulder to overhead 50 pounds
