Aviation Technology AssistantLOCATION: Cascadia Technical Academy (CTA)REPORTS TO: Instructor-DirectorDEPARTMENT: Cascadia Technical Academy (CTA)Hours / Work Times 6.25 Hours Per Day (7:30 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch
190 Days Per Year (180 student days / 10 holidays)
This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 06/26/24.
Must meet Paraeducator Employment Requirements as follows*:
  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent; AND
  • Must meet one or more of the following:
  • Have received a passing score of 455 or higher on the Education Testing Service ParaPro Assessment (ETS test/PRAXIS); or
  • Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
  • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university; or
  • Have completed a Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program (program must be registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council).
  • If you do not meet the required qualifications listed above, your name will be screened out from the list of qualified candidates.
Upon hire, new paraeducators will be required to complete state required training offered through Evergreen School District.Position Duration: Permanent

Summary StatementUnder the supervision of the program instructor(s) and Program Administrator, the Aviation Technology Assistant is responsible to assist in directing the activities of students in the aviation trade in small and medium sized groups, as well as assist with problem solving.
Essential Functions
  • Assist the program instructors in supervising and working with students in the aviation trade as follows:
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and the general public.
  • Assist in providing group instruction to students.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Assist in evaluating and specifying direction of instruction so as to maximize each student's potential.
  • Maintain accurate data on student progress.
  • Assist in administering and scoring formal and informal tests.
  • Implement behavioral management strategies using the emphasis and techniques that have been outlined by the teacher.
  • Assist in organizing and preparing a variety of instructional materials.
  • Perform First Aid/CPR when necessary.
  • Attend various training sessions as necessary so as to maintain an up-to-date understanding of the aviation trade.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic typing/keyboarding.
  • Minimum of two years of aviation industry specific work experience or training preferred.
  • Knowledge of aviation industry professions.
  • Pilot license with 250 hours of flight time, preferred. Prefer to also be a Certified Flight Instructor or military equivalent.
  • Strong foundation in science principles.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations.
  • Challenge Course certified facilitator (or willingness to obtain certification), preferred
  • Prefer prior teaching and/or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and relate to high school juniors and seniors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of an instructional team.
  • Demonstrated ability in positive human relations.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability.
  • Experience and/or training or willingness to take course work to increase knowledge and use of anti-bias, multi-cultural education.
  • Must possess a current First Aid/CPR card, or be able to acquire within 30 days.
  • Willingness to obtain a Type II Driving Certification, preferred.
  • Willingness to qualify for a Washington State Secondary Career and Technical Education Teaching Certificate.
  • Must be able to be insured through the District's insurance carrier.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
