Medical Assisting Professional TechnicianLOCATION: Cascadia Technical Academy (CTA)REPORTS TO: Instructor/Director Cascadia Technical Academy (CTA)DEPARTMENT: SecondaryHours / Work Times 7 Hours Per Day (7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. includes 30 minutes unpaid lunch)
190 Days Per Year (180 student days / 10 holidays)
This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 06/26/24.
Must meet Paraeducator Employment Requirements as follows*:
  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent; AND
  • Must meet one or more of the following:
  • Have received a passing score of 455 or higher on the Education Testing Service ParaPro Assessment (ETS test/PRAXIS); or
  • Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
  • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university; or
  • Have completed a Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program (program must be registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council).
  • If you do not meet the required qualifications listed above, your name will be screened out from the list of qualified candidates.
Upon hire, new paraeducators will be required to complete state required training offered through Evergreen School District.Position Duration:Permanent

In addition, this position will assist the instructors as requested in the instructional process.
Essential Functions
  • Assist the program instructor(s) in supervising and working with students as follows:
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and the general public.
  • Assist in providing group instruction to students.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Assist in evaluating and specifying direction of instruction so as to maximize each student's potential.
  • Maintain accurate data on student progress.
  • Assist in administering and scoring formal and informal tests.
  • Implement behavioral management strategies using the emphasis and techniques that have been outlined by the instructor(s).
  • Assist in organizing and preparing a variety of instructional materials.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Washington State Medical Assisting or LPN license required.
  • Recent experience in clinical setting required.
  • Demonstrated ability or willingness to learn computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and the general public.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise high school students.
  • Must possess personal characteristics of flexibility, initiative, cooperativeness and confidentiality.
  • Must possess organizational skills and the ability to follow through.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate the office equipment as listed in the tools and equipment area above.
  • Must qualify for and be willing to obtain a Type II Driver's License.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.
