Job Title: Driver

Job Summary: A driver is responsible for operating a vehicle to transport members from one location to another in a safe and timely manner. They must adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Transportation: Safely operate various types of vehicles, such as cars, vans, or buses, to transport members to their destinations.
  • Route Planning: Plan efficient routes to minimize time and fuel consumption, considering factors such as traffic, weather conditions, and road closures.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on vehicles, including checking oil, tire pressure, and fluid levels, and report any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, including speed limits, road signs, and signals, to ensure the safety of passengers, pedestrians, and other drivers.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by assisting members with boarding and disembarking, and addressing any concerns or inquiries.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle inspections, and complete any required paperwork or logbooks.
  • Communication: Maintain communication with office, supervisors, or other team members to report status updates, delays, or incidents during transportation.
  • Adaptability: Be prepared to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and adapt to changing schedules or routes as needed.
  • Safety Equipment: Ensure that all safety equipment, such as seat belts, airbags, and emergency exits, is in proper working condition and accessible to passengers at all times.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies or accidents by following established procedures, such as evacuating passengers, administering first aid, or contacting emergency services.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
  • Clean driving record with no history of accidents or violations.
  • Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and drug screenings, if required by the employer.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a driver preferred but not always required, depending on the specific job requirements.
  • Additional training or certifications in defensive driving, passenger safety, or specialized vehicle operation may be beneficial.

Working Conditions:

  • Drivers may spend long hours behind the wheel, often in varying weather conditions and heavy traffic.
  • Some positions may require overnight trips or extended periods away from home.
  • Depending on the type of vehicle and cargo, drivers may be exposed to loud noises, fumes, or hazardous materials.
  • Physical demands may include lifting and carrying heavy items, sitting for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks.
