Evergreen is Hiring a Human Resource and Safety Coordinator Near Albany, NY

Serves as administrator for several critical human resources functions and workforce management, including recruiting, employee/labor relations, health and safety, compensation, benefits, training, diversity, employee engagement, leave and attendance tracking, payroll, and employee records. Facilitates and communicates organizational policies and programs and ensures labor law and regulatory compliance. Provides internal support and partnership to business lines to deliver required human resources. Coordinates with HR support service staff to process and maintain employment, attendance, and other records. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager.

Job Purpose

Under the direction of the V.P. Human Resources and in close collaboration with the Plant Manager, the Human Resources Coordinator will support a variety of culture and people related initiatives aimed at creating an environment where our people can do their best work. The primary responsibilities of this role are to lead and execute all recruiting, placement and onboarding of new hires and support safety initiatives and programs within the facility. Support and implement initiatives to support retention within the plant, positively support employee culture, management and oversight of timecards and preparing payroll for accurate and time processing. Individual will also work alongside the Union concerning relevant matters. work positively with the interaction of the Union. Position will also help to develop, monitor and enforce policy and procedures and ensure employees files are accurate and updated.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides human resources leadership, consultation, and advice to strategic business unit leaders across within the location, regarding the alignment of human resources initiatives with business goals and objectives.
  • Aligned with the HR Strategy, effectively leverages the complete Talent Management System (TMS) to support the growth and advancement of the business.
  • Uses HR data analytics effectively and partners with the plant leaders to attract, select and develop the talent needed to build bench strength and improve organizational effectiveness today, as well as in the future based on the strategic needs of the business.
  • Provides guidance to managers/supervisors and employees to support and facilitate effective teaching/coaching, training & development, performance management and recognition.
  • Oversees the administration of safety programs and other reporting requirements for the plant.
  • Drives safety programs and development to ensure a safe work environment for all employees at all levels
  • Reports and investigates all injuries for internal reporting in addition to external reporting.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relations with management teams, employees, employee representatives and union representatives, support open communication and providing advice/counsel to facilitate and effective problem resolution process.
  • Serves as a facilitator in change management and HR digitization initiatives; has ability to adapt and think creatively in response to complex and diverse challenges.
  • Recommends new approaches, processes, and procedures to facilitate continuous improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of HR services provided.
  • Respects individual differences and utilizes the diverse thinking and contributions of all.
  • Encourages teamwork and a sense of partnership.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Assure Company policies are administered fairly and consistently throughout the area of responsibility.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations regardless of level
  • This job position performs other assignments and performs other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • The ideal candidate should have a strong human resources generalist background, management and employee/labor relations.
  • 3 years of human resources experience preferably in manufacturing
  • High-caliber, human resources generalist with experience successfully facilitating and supporting organizational and cultural change.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to quickly adjust priorities
  • Strong functional background in people selection, talent assessment and development, employee engagement, HR data analytics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with conflict resolution
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or another related field required or a minimum of 3 years of HR experience within manufacturing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
