Slitter Machine operators set up, operate, or tend machines, in order to cut, slit, bend, or straighten sheets of metal, or other materials to specific widths. Slitter operators must also ensure quality, by examining various end-products and observing pre-defined tolerances.
Ensures that they have mounted the correct knives and positioned them correctly onto slitting arbor.
Make adjustments to tables, conveyors and rollers to ensure that steel coil is properly positioned over the slitting knives.
Directs the helper to monitor the process, tag and band finished coils and off load finished coils.

Perform routine maintenance on equipment and adjust when necessary,

Ensure that the assembled products are conform to the specifications given.
Dispose of waste material created in the cutting process, such as scrap according to regulations, and clean-up workplace.
Maintain slitting machinery and equipment, to ensure that it is clean and in safe, working order.
Operate a machine to convert metal or other materials into strips of specified widths.
Check products for quality on the production line and remove defective items before and after packaging.
Constantly monitors cutting process to ensure accuracy of cut and speed of the machine.
Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process and quality system.
Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
Represent the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing quality control.
