JOB SUMMARY

The Data Scientist will be responsible for helping discover information hidden in vast amounts of data and helping to make smarter decisions through high quality, data-driven investigative products. The primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, building high quality prediction systems, and integrate with our products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
• Experience with common data science toolkits.
• Experience with data visualization tools.
• High level proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL).
• Experience with applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Good scripting and programming skills (in particular Python)
• Solid documentation skills (Requirement, Functional, and Technical).
• Experience working with relational databases (Oracle, SQL and Teradata preferred).
• Experience working with a wide variety of data sources and formats
• Experience with data APIs and cloud platform databases (e.g., BigQuery)
• Understanding of relational data modeling concepts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement processes or industry best practices.
• Results oriented; experience delivering great results and driving continuous improvement.
• Ability to collaborate and interact with business partners across all levels of the organization to define solutions to address key opportunities.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build trust and commitment and influence others; promotes open communication and diverse perspectives.
• Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability; thrives in a changing and/or fast paced environment; ability to balance multiple priorities and projects.
• Motivated by the opportunity to learn and solve problems; takes initiative to improve processes and systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience with SPLUNK, Hadoop, Databricks, Formstack a plus.
• Analytical skills focusing on Investigative data analytics a plus.
• Experience working in a government contracting data environment a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or demonstrated relevant work experience as required by assigned project or initiative.
• A background check and a Secret-level security clearance is required.
• 5 years of relevant experience.
• Understanding of and experience with machine learning techniques
• Data mining using state-of-the-art methods.
• Experience using third party data sources.
• Experience with enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems.
• Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis.
• Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner.
• Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must have mobility to attend meetings remotely and in person.
