The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturing processes are safe, cost-effective, and capable of producing high-quality products. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing technologies, and the ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
    • Proven experience with process design, development, and optimization in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment:

Work is typically performed in a Manufacturing or workshop setting.

Exposure to loud noise, dust, and potential hazards from machinery.

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection is required.

Responsibilities:

Process Design and Development:

  • The Injection Molding Engineer is responsible for the performance results of Injection Molding Machines
  • Provides leadership direction, coaching and training for all Process team members
  • Design and develop manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
  • Create detailed process documentation, including process flow diagrams, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Specify and select appropriate manufacturing equipment and tools.

Process Optimization:

  • Analyze current manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve workflow, and enhance productivity.
  • Use statistical methods and data analysis to monitor process performance and make data-driven decisions.

Quality Assurance:

  • Develop and implement quality control systems to ensure product quality and consistency.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve quality issues.
  • Collaborate with quality engineers to establish and maintain process control plans.

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage projects related to process improvement, new product introduction, and equipment upgrades.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, production, quality, and maintenance, to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource plans.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with safety regulations and standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the manufacturing team.
  • Train and mentor production staff on best practices and process improvements.
  • Stay informed about advancements in manufacturing technologies and techniques.

Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
    • Advanced degree or certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar is a plus.

Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
    • Proven experience with process design, development, and optimization in a manufacturing environment.

Skills:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
    • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to spend extended periods on the manufacturing floor.
  • Occasional lifting of materials and equipment (up to 25 pounds).
  • Ability to work in a production environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a combination of office and manufacturing settings.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection is required when on the manufacturing floor.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support multiple manufacturing sites or to collaborate with suppliers and customers.
