Excel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated individual for a full-time Safety Consultant. This is for our power utility client in Pueblo and Littleton, CO.

The position is responsible for providing safety consulting services to our client's clients. Generally, the consultant is responsible for recognizing, monitoring, and making recommendations to ensure that workplace safety hazards are corrected. This is done through on-site audits, consulting, ergonomic assessments, and interventions according to OSHA and other regulatory agencies.

Will work with downstream clients on safety policy development and training. This position will primarily serve plants and areas listed below. However, they may also be requested to assist with other departments within that business area. In each region, one or more of these positions will be responsible for administering the client's electric and gas public safety program.

Work Locations

Rocky Mountain Solar Farm in Pueblo, CO, and Waterton Solar Farm in Littleton, CO.

Project Scope

Construction of a 325 MW solar farm (Rocky Mountain) and an 8 MW solar farm (Waterton). The Rocky Mountain Solar project will have approximately 290 full-time employees onsite. Staffing for Waterton Solar has not yet been determined.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide safety oversight over all construction activities taking place on-site for the Rocky Mountain Solar project and provide periodic support for the Waterton Solar project.
• Conduct site safety orientations. 
• Participate in job safety reviews and project planning to ensure successful and safe execution of work tasks before the job starts. 
• Conduct daily site safety observations, and provide coaching. 
• Conduct a weekly all-hands safety meeting. 
• Manage all hot work permitting, and oversight of all incident investigations. 
• Generate all required documentation in SiteDocs.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Industrial Hygiene, Construction Oversight, Safety Programming/Implementation or equivalent
• Industrial/Utility Safety Training and Certifications
• Knowledge of Solar Generation Farm Site Safety Regulations and Practices
• Knowledge of Electric and Natural Gas Utility Safety Regulations and Practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong teaching and demonstration skills.
