EXP is looking for an Assistant Transportation Planner who will serve on a variety of multimodal and intermodal planning initiatives and projects. Under direct supervision, this position will perform entry-level, professional planning work of current and long-range, feasibility and visioning planning development projects. This position will require collaboration, extensive research, and offer real-world examples of public sector urban planning. Career knowledge will be shared and demonstrated, and candidates will be expected to be engaged, active participants in discussions, and plan to present research findings. This position will assist providing superior client care and act as professional support for various audiences and decision-makers. This position requires interaction with clients and external stakeholders including municipalities, TPOs/MPOs, boards, and elected officials.
Conducts transportation planning analysis including the preparation of associated data, inventory, and analysis to support preparation of transportation planning and project development studies. Assists and manages the preparation of small and large area studies, planning analysis, traffic studies, special projects, and other studies to address transportation problems and projects. Assists senior planners and project managers with research and analysis to provide recommended policies and solutions, writing reports, and presenting projects findings. Identifies and helps win planning contracts and helps manage those contracts.
Candidates must have excellent writing, presentation, and analytical skills; the ability to communicate effectively with staff, the public, and clients. Provide technical, analytical, and applications support in multiple functional areas requiring Geographic Information System (GIS) geospatial data and mapping resources. The position will be responsible for creating graphics and packaging graphics for reports, presentations, and technical memorandums.
Work is performed under a project or senior planner supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment based on professional education and previous experience.
