DescriptionSummary: Expansion Therapeutics is a private well-funded biotechnology company focusing on developing transformative oral medicines that target RNA-mediated devastating diseases. Expansion is seeking an enthusiastic, driven and highly motivated individual to play a key role in supporting the team of scientists and advancing the ongoing cross-functional drug discovery & development efforts. This position will report to the Senior Scientist II and will be responsible for research operation tasks, and conduct cellular and biochemical assays to evaluate compound activity while utilizing fundamental molecular/cellular biology and biochemical technologies. This position will be based in our Cambridge, MA location. Title, compensation will be commensurate with the experience.

- Assemble critical research reagents to support advanced:
- Molecular biology experiments such as, designing primers, oligos, probes, expression constructs, and molecular cloning as needed for various projects.
- Cellular biology experiments employing human immortalized and iPS cell lines.
- Biochemical techniques such as SDS -PAGE, Western, ELISA
- Perform cellular assays on a routine basis, including but not limited to isolation and quantitation of DNA/RNA, excecution of RT-PCR/qPCR assays and evaluation of results by gel and/or capillary electrophoresis.
- Maintain patient derived iPS and other progenitor cell lines to be employed in cellular assays.
- Support development of new cellular assays utilizing the critical molecular biology reagents including viral or non-viral delivery of DNA, RNA and contribute to developing other novel assays.
- Support upkeep and maintenance of various laboratory equipment
- Maintain detailed organized records of experimental data and analysis.
- Develop, optimize protocols, and support generation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Interpret and present data regularly in both oral and written formats.
- Perform all duties in keeping with the Company’s core values, policies and all applicable regulations.
- Master’s degree with 3 years or Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of assay conductance experience in biotech/biopharma industry.
- Experience in aseptic techniques and QC for culturing iPS, muscle progenitor and other cell lines of human tissue origin.
- Experience with IF and high content imaging is required.
- Experience in differentiation of iPS to cardiomyocytes and neurons is a plus.
- Experience in molecular RNA biology is highly valued.
- Familiarity with standard laboratory instruments, computers and office and laboratory software including molecular biology software will be required.
- Experience in independently conducting experiments, analyzing, and interpreting experimental data is required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organization and documentation skills is a must.
- Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate in a multi-disciplinary environment.
