Best Buy Co., Inc. has an opening for a Senior Manager, Decision Science position at its headquarters in Richfield, Minnesota. Responsible for extracting value from data-problem-solving using curiosity, scientific methods, processes, and outputs of algorithms, platforms, and systems to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data. Answer business questions, using basic queries, tabulations and statistical techniques to understand and explain business performance and identify business opportunities. Work with advanced analytics teams to bring business context and understanding to improve algorithms, models and rules. Manage, coach, and develop 1-4 direct reports that perform analytics. Manage analytics projects that engage more than one staff member. Drive business results by performing analytics. Lead clients to a holistic understanding of how their business quantitatively operates. Lead scoping sessions with business clients. Frame and structure the engagement goals and the recommended analysis approach. Break projects into smaller pieces for assignment to direct reports and staffers that report to other teams. Lead clients away from simplistic tallying and towards holistic analyses. Perform complex analytics using scientific methods that rely upon mathematics, statistics, and hypothesis testing. Write code using one or more of the following languages: SAS, SQL, Python, and/or R as applicable to the engagement. Build complex Tableau and/or Power BI workspaces suited for the analytical exploration of datasets. Review, edit, and approve analytics produced by direct reports and staff members that do not report to you. Provide work direction and management oversight for direct reports and staff members that do not report to you. Build Tableau and/or Power BI dashboards and visualizations suited for business clients. Build PowerPoint slides, Excel spreadsheets, and Word documents. Review, edit, and approve deliverables produced by direct reports and staffers that report to other teams. Calibrate deliverables to suit the intended audiences. Synthesize findings across separate projects to better contextualize results. There are multiple positions available. Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent foreign degree in Engineering, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science. Position requires at least 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in retail, analytics, business, or related area and applying analytical techniques to answer business questions or scientific questions.
