Responsibilities
- Accommodate individual needs and to create a flexible educational program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth
- Motivate scholars to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education, in accordance with each student's ability
- Teach district approved curriculum
- Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each scholar
- Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences
- Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of DOJO, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
- Establish and maintain standards of scholar behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
- Evaluate scholars’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports
- Identify scholar needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans
- Plan and coordinate the work of para pros, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student
- Create an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays interest centers and exhibits of students' work
- Prepare a plan to meet the individual and collective needs of assigned students
- N.J. CE, CEAS or Standard teaching certification
- Bachelor of Arts degree or higher
