Responsibilities
- Prepare and provide training and instruction to students with disabilities.
- Motivate students to develop skills in assigned subject matters.
- Monitor progress in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Assess and evaluate needs of students; maintain appropriate records; prepare progress reports.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences based on the needs and abilities of students.
- Provide positive role model to students and demonstrate appropriate behavior and socialization skills.
- Assist with the formulation and implementation of behavior modification programs.
- Participate in various groups, meetings and committees.
- Facilitate communication between various groups on behalf of the client or student.
- Bachelor's degree in teaching, or a related field working with children.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural setting and with diverse groups of people preferred.
- Ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports.
- Effective analysis skills to evaluate needs and issues objectively.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with children, students, parents, staff, administration, and the general public.
- Minnesota Teaching license.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of special education and specialty area.
- Thorough knowledge of school division rules, regulations, and procedures.
