Our client is an assisted living community based on a social model of living. Our clients purpose is to provide quality of life for residents and work with residents.
As the Activities Director (“AD”) and a leader for this high-end, boutique Memory Care community the AD is responsible for planning, directing and carrying out a schedule of meaningful activities.
Areas of Responsibility and Duties:
1) Provides a variety of activities incorporating social and intellectual stimulation, entertainment, relaxation, physical activity and an opportunity to express creativity. Makes activities available to all residents, subject to their individual limitations.
2) Encourages residents to participate in planning events and parties, menus and refreshments, and the making of favors, gifts, placemats, invitations and decorations.
3) Assists residents in reading their mail and writing letters. Initiates individual and two-person
activities, such as games, making scrapbooks, preparing vegetables, working puzzles, reading,
listening to music, or talking books, feeding birds and walking outdoors or inside.
4) Inventories activity supplies and equipment and plans purchases in advance according to budget constraints.
5) Does preparation work for activities. Involves residents with preparation work as much as
possible.
Qualifications & Requirements:
1) One year supervisory and management experience including hiring of staff, coaching,
performance management of daily operations, supervision, and when appropriate, the disciplining of staff.
2) Ability to prioritize department needs and to multi-task.
3) Exhibit competent management and organizational skills
4) Demonstrate a proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office™ (Windows, Outlook, Word and Excel).
5) Demonstrate good decision making, judgment and critical thinking skills.
6) Work area(s) may be subject to noise, distractions and/or interruptions. Therefore, the ability to remain calm and positive in stressful situations is required
7) High attention to detail.
** Some travel is expected for this position
