LOCATION: Retail Pharmacy
REPORTS: Directly to PIC; indirect to RVP Pharmacy Operations

SummaryThe Pharmacist oversees all aspects of the retail pharmacy (especially when the PIC is not present), with their main roll being pharmacy employee supervision, prescription processing and patient interaction/communication. Additional duties include, but not limited to – prepare pharmacy for business; inventory control; and data entry. They must work well in a fast-paced environment and have strong customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains records of all transactions of the pharmacy necessary to ensure accurate control over, and accountability for, all drugs as required by applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations; ensures legal operation of the pharmacy, including meeting all inspection and other requirements of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing pharmacy operations.
- Maintains accurate records of all prescription transactions and submits appropriate claims for third-party reimbursement; consults with physicians and nurses regarding pharmaceutical questions; advises physicians on formulary medications and cost-effective and innovative therapies; answers pharmaceutical questions from patients and staff; monitors storage, distribution, and use of pharmaceuticals.
- Provides training, assigns duties, and provides input for performance evaluations.
- Documents and reports medication errors to direct supervisor.
- Maintains close control over all operations at store level.
EXPERIENCE And/or REQUIREMENTS
- National Certification – required
- Registered and Licensed with State Board of Pharmacy – required
- Experience as a Pharmacist in a retail environment – preferred
- PharmD or BS in Pharmacy
- Immunization Certification a plus
- Proven focus on patient care – required
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Experience with Pioneer pharmacy software is a plus
