Overall Purpose of the Job

Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.

Key Activities and Accountabilities

Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.

Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.

Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.

Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.

Job Knowledge and Qualifications

2 10 years of directly related experience.

Certified in all positions needed for current welding procedures and processes used in production.

Must demonstrate little to no complication with welding configurations.

Must be able to easily make repairs and sound structural welds.

Good knowledge and use of all available welding processes.

Good fitting ability

Able to comfortably complete projects with little to no instructions concerning welding specifics or drawing clarity.

Able to comfortably operate torch, drill press, metal worker, gouging, band saw, grinders and other cutting equipment and machine tools as necessary.

Timely turnaround of assignments with little to no rework; good production output

Promotes safe and productive work environment.
