Exteriors Design Contractors Inc is Hiring an Estimator Near Portland, OR

DESCRIPTION

Estimator studies bid documents, drawings, plans, and specifications, ensuring that we have the information required for a successful bid and project win. Creates detailed take offs and materials cost reports for exterior siding systems to prepare accurate estimates for each project. The Estimator will work effectively with suppliers, general contractors or owners to ensure bidding timelines are met.

Key Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and in a timely manner. The following duties are representative of the job but are not all inclusive and other duties may be assigned as needed.

Provide support to the Estimating team with a focus to detail on plans and specs.

  • Create accurate takeoffs and estimates using Bluebeam or other software's
  • Assists in reviews and evaluates project plans and specifications, bid documents, and other relevant project documents to identify what is needed for a project and assists in creating a bid proposal.
  • Assists in calculating the cost of electrical construction based on reviewing and evaluating available documents.
  • Analyzes projects for value engineering options while considering specific job conditions that may affect labor and material to be purchased and installed.
  • Help identifies any inconsistent issues, conflicts, and other problems in the bid documents.
  • Help identifies strategies to create bid advantages.
  • Helps to prepare bid documents including specific scope letter for each project, “.
  • Assists Field Project team with scope and materials types
  • Assists in requesting material and equipment quotes from vendors and equipment suppliers. Helps to reviews quotes to confirm adherence to quote requests and accuracy of quotes received.
  • Assist in preparing budget pricing.
  • Assists on turnover meetings to operations team upon award of project.
  • Assist in project pursuits and interviews as needed.
  • Develops and maintains a positive relationship with vendors and clients.
  • May attend estimating/sales meetings, and project meetings to discuss bid status, and present/solve problems.
  • May perform job walks to ensure that any field conditions have been observed that may affect the construction, may impact the prospective bid, and/or may impact the pre-construction designs and the build services.
  • Is a team player – a positive, well-organized, proactive force to support profit and growth of the Company.
  • Communicates effectively with office personnel, engineers, architects, general contractors, customers, and team members.
  • Understand and evaluate all bid documents and proposal requirements.
  • Have the understanding of drawings, plans, specifications, scopes of work, and other necessary construction documents to ensure a complete and thorough estimate.
  • Consistently follows up on submitted bids and budgets with General Contractors
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team and others involved in the estimating process.
  • Prepare the final project cost, materials type lists and project information and present it to the Onsite Project Team for construction start

Skills/Training/Experience

Ability to read and understand construction documents.

Ability to communicate and negotiate the materials costs with all suppliers

Ability to communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing.

Experience with (or willingness to learn) construction software:

· Strong knowledge Bluebeam

· Microsoft Office

-Autodesk/ProEst (Estimating) preferred not required.

Candidates with 1-2 years of exterior claddign systems experience preferred or exteriors in other divisions construction estimating.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $98,000.00 per year
